Ecclesiastes 1:9,10
What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.
[10] Is there anything of which one can say,
"Look! This is something new"?
It was here already, long ago;
it was here before our time.
Many propose
that we and our children are subjected to circumstances and temptations not
experienced in the bible times ie.. TVs, computers, etc. Thereby, undermining
Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 and the very word of God.
Solomon was
not saying every tool or toy that exist today has existed before.
For that is not true. What
is true is God created the universe and all that is in it.
Man has not added to or removed from anything in the universe.
Mankind has only manipulated parts of God's creation.
There were no
TVs in the bible times but, there were story tellers and couriers.
Story tellers entertained, couriers carried the news.
Delivery was different but not the product.
People had
twenty four hours in each day then as they do now.
Those that had nothing to do found something to do, sit around, drink,
drug, deceive, steal, adultery etc.. All
the things that are done today, the problems and there solutions are the same as
they were then; only the outward appearance has changed.
God knew all
the temptations that faced us then and God knew the solutions for those
temptations. The temptations and
their solutions are the same today as they were then. You will find all you need to know in God's Word.
Still applying God's solutions is not just a matter of reading God's
Word; you must study God's Word. Not
only that but you must study your heart; then change your heart to mimic God's
Word.
